Jonathan Coulton was born on the 1st of December 1970 in New Haven, Connecticut.
He had hopes of becoming a musician from a young age. So while studying for his Bachelor of Arts degree at Yale University, he was part of several bands with fellow students. Most notably the collegiate a capella group The Yale Whiffenpoofs.
Between September 2005 and September 2006, singer-songwriter Jonathan Coulton produced and released one song each week, in an attempt to keep himself occupied after having quit his job as a software programmer to focus on his music career.
For this month’s geeky recipe I decided to make a quail-egg omelette, based on the Chaos Witch Quelaag, a Dark Souls boss.
.
I have had this idea for over a year, but I had some trouble finding any quail eggs to buy.
Luckily, I was finally tipped off about an exotic grocery story, where they had piles of them!
This recipe serves two people.
.
1. Separate the yolk from the whites of 24 quail eggs, as best you can. It is more difficult to do this with quail-eggs than with chicken-eggs, but if any yolks break just put them in with the whites.
2. Stir in one teaspoon of tomato purée and one teaspoon of sriracha sauce into the egg whites, to achieve a color and hotness reminiscent of Quelaag’s lava-spider lower body.
3. Stir in 15 grams of grated parmesan cheese.
4. Start frying the red egg whites in some butter.
5. Immediately pour the yolks carefully over the whites.
6. Place 14 halves of cherry tomato around on the omelette.
Now we have a nice-looking spider face going.
7. Fry on low temperature until everything has coagulated. Using a lid will speed this up.
8. Serve with a bit of green salad and some bread.
.
After you have devoured Quelaag, you are ready to take on Izalith!
After visiting Cardiff I took the train back to England, and traveled north up to Newcastle, Northumberland.
After dropping my rucksack of at a hotel, I hopped on the bus out to Alnwick Castle.
I had traveled to this particular castle because this was the castle which had been used as the filming location for Hogwarts in the first two Harry Potter movies, ‘The Philosopher’s Stone’ and ‘The Chamber of Secrets’, and had as a result informed the look of Hogwarts in all subsequent films.
In the movies there were of course a lot added to the castle in post-production, mostly in height, but I did not mind. Hogwarts was a place I had wanted to visit ever since I devoured the books as a child.
While doing research for this post, I learned that the castle had been used to film many other things than just Harry Potter, but one of them made me really exited.
In February of 1983, Rowan Atkinson and his co-stars were filming around Alnwick Castle, as it would double as King Richard IV’s castle for the first Blackadder season, titled ‘The Black Adder’.
Blackadder is one of my favorite comedy shows, so I wish that I would have noticed that when I was there.
After I was done soaking in the Hogwartsian atmosphere, I took the bus back to my hotel.
And after a night in Newcastle, I started my journey southwards, to France!
A lot of the songs by Ninja Sex Party are quite raunchy, but here are five mostly safe for work ‘Ninja Sex Party’ songs.
Danny Sexbang and Ninja Brian teaches a classroom full of kids the science of dinosaurs, and how they battled robots with lasers.
The animated bits were made by Arin Hanson, aka Egoraptor.
Danny is rock as fuck, just ask his mom!
The animated bits were made by Gregzilla, and the tagging on the wall were various bits of NSP fan-art.
A party anthem works wonders for getting party attendees psyched!
But there needs to be an actually good party underneath it all, or the whole thing just seems silly.
For the record, I think a ‘Dungeons and Dragons’ party would actually be pretty cool.
Danny tries to win over a woman, by bragging about how he defeated a mythical beast.

Back in February, I shared my favorite song from each ‘Miracle of Sound’ album.
This proved to be very difficult, as there are so many great songs there!
So I have decided to make a Top 10 or Top 5 list for each album, depending on how big the album is to begin with.
This first one was quite big.
10. Sweet L.A.
