The Blame Society Films Cameo in 'Anubis: Dog of Death'

I recently released the ninth page of my Anubis: Dog of Death comic.

The page features a cameo of one of my all-time favorite YouTube groups, Blame Society Films.

Blame Society Films are most known for Chad Vader, their award-winning Star Wars parody. But in later years their main series’ have been their comedy board game show Beer And Board Games, and their humorous film discussion show Welcome To The Basement.

These two shows are weekly weekend entertainment for me and my girlfriend. Along with the Welcome To The Basement satellite show Unboxing.

Here’s an episode of Beer And Board Games that we sponsored:

We also created a fan-made board game about the show, which I am updating for a free print&play experience, but that is a tale for another day.

I have always been a big fan of the stuff Blame Society Films makes. So I figured it would be cool to give them a shout-out in something that I have made.

So I asked the comic’s artist John Barry Ballaran to add some players from an episode of Beer And Board Games in the background of one of the pages.

The people on the page are the crew from the Fiasco episode of B&BG. They are Matt Sloan, Aaron Yonda, Jason Stephens and Craig Johnson.

They are sitting a bit far away, and like in the Fiasco episode they are dressed like characters from Reservoir Dogs. But if the identity of the people sitting there should be unclear, the sign above them should make it clearer.

The ‘Return Of Stu’ movie showing at the theater is also a reference to a running gag on Welcome To The Basement.
