The Acid Zombie

I decided to make a mixed drink for this month’s geeky recipe, and it is naturally Halloween themed.

It is a slight variation on a mojito, with extra lime and mint leaves, topped with a frozen “brain” containing water and blackcurrant juice.

For a single glass, you’ll need to mix:

4 centilitres of lime juice

6 centilitres of soda water

7 centilitres of white rum

1 whole pot of chopped up mint leaves

Jonathan Coulton’s Career

Jonathan Coulton was born on the 1st of December 1970 in New Haven, Connecticut.

He had hopes of becoming a musician from a young age. So while studying for his Bachelor of Arts degree at Yale University, he was part of several bands with fellow students. Most notably the collegiate a capella group The Yale Whiffenpoofs.

Vegan Vampire Soup

We are quickly closing in on the month of Halloween, and I wanted to reflect that in this month’s geeky recipe.

The result is a beety bloodbath of a dish, a feast fit for any vegetarian vampire, werewolf or cannibal.

.

The Recipe

(Serves 2 monsters)

1. Boil two large beets for 15 minutes, or just buy boiled beets.

2. Cut a small piece off each beet, so that they are flat on the underside, and can stand still on a surface.

3. Use a knife and a spoon to scoop out each beet into a bowl.

4. Take the pieces you cut off from the undersides and insides of beetbowls, and slice them into pieces. They should look like gory meat chunks.

5. Set aside two tablespoons of diced beets, and put the rest in a small pot.

6. Add 1,5 deciliters of water and a half tablespoon of vegetable bouillon powder.

7. Bring it to a boil, then mix it all together with a hand-held blender.

8. Adjust the taste with salt, pepper and a small squeeze of lime.

9. Serve the soup in the beety bowls, and decorate with the diced beet chunks you put aside earlier.

10. Watch out for vampires!

Sunshine Blogger Award 2: Electric Boogaloo

I would like to thank BeardedGamer82 for my second Sunshine Blogger Award!

These blogger awards work as a sort of chain-letter interview, with the recipients nominating a new group and asking new questions at the end of their own post.

While I did that for my first Sunshine Blogger Award, I have started to just leave participation open to anyone who would like to answer these same questions, as picking nominees and questions takes more out of me than writing the post itself.

That said, let’s get to answering! 😀

.

1. What is your goal for your blog? Do you feel you have met it yet?

I started the blog to build interest in a card game I made in the hope that I could eventually crowdfund it on Kickstarter, but I quickly put that project on ice.

My current plan is for this to be the main outlet and archive for my upcoming comic, and all other future projects I’ll have.

Since I have yet to launch any big projects like that here, I do not think I can say I have met my goals yet, but I have found value in blogging in itself, and I have started many smaller projects that are worth something to myself because of it.

2. If you were given a free all expenses paid trip, where would you go?

I genuinely don’t know.

I love travel, but my favorite place is sitting on the couch with my girlfriend.

I guess we would just try to find the most crazy expensive holiday possible, since that would be our only chance to ever experience it.

3. Last book you have read?

I read ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ aloud for my girlfriend.

We read more adult fare separately, but it was kind of cosy reading a book from our childhood together.

4. Your favorite console of choice. PlayStation, Xbox , or Nintendo?

I started with a Nintendo 64, then got a Playstation 2, then a Xbox 360, then a Playstation 4, and now we also have a Switch and SNES.

I feel like I picked the best options for each generation.

At the moment we still have the PS3, PS4, Switch and the SNES, and I sometimes use a 3DS and my laptop and mobile for gaming.

5. Do you think Nintendo will ever just make games and skip producing consoles?

I feel like their pride will prevent this.

They see themselves as toy makers, not game producers.

6. With the success of the Switch do you think there is a market for a Xbox or PlayStation handheld?

Sure, if they are as good.

7. What’s the hardest thing about blogging to you?

I have put a scheadual of three posts each week on myself, each monday, wednesday and friday, and sometimes I am more tempted to skip a day than other times.

But I know that if i did not follow this schedule, I would never write, certanly not nearly as much as I have written because of it.

I have some great posts that would never have existed without that schedual, but probably some subpar ones aswell.

8. What is one movie you can watch over and over again?

Hot Fuzz – The Best Movie

Top 5 Songs from ‘MoS: Level 7’

Back in February, I shared my favorite song from each ‘Miracle of Sound’ album.

This proved to be very difficult, as there are so many great songs there!

So I have decided to make a Top 10 or Top 5 list for each album, depending on how big the album is to begin with.

5. Mother Of Flame

A song about one of my favorite ‘Game Of Thrones’ characters, Daenerys Targaryen.

The Unburnt, The Breaker of Chains and The Mother of Dragons!

4. Hell To Pay

I love this song for many of the same reasons I love DOOM, the game this song was based on.

3. Get The Gang Back

‘Overwatch’ has in many ways captured the spirit of good character-based cartoons like ‘The X-Men’, and this song would be a great theme-song if they ever were to make this an actual television program.

I would so watch that!

2. The Path

Another song based on ‘The Witcher 3’, this one focusing on the ‘Blood and Whine’ expansion pack, the end of Geralt’s journey in the games.

An ending I prefer over his ending in the books.

1. The Man Who Rocked The World
