We are closing in on the 17th of May, the Norwegian Constitution Day, so I figured it was time to remind everyone what it is we are celebrating.

That was a cute video Sindre – a “tell all” about your country. The USA’s celebration is not as exciting as we don’t dress up for our Constitution Day – just shoot off fireworks. Maybe folks here dressed up like the founding fathers for the Bicentennial in 1976, as that was a big occasion. Speaking of dressing up (or dressing down, or even abandoning clothes altogether), the video forgot to mention Oslo’s Vigeland Park, which was touted as pretty racy back in 1983 when our tour group visited Norway. 🙂
Well, it does have that pillar of naked statues, so I can see how that is viewed as racy :p
Well back then a few of the people in our tour group decided not to get off the bus after reading the brochure. 🙂

I agree with you Sindre, but it was 1983 and they were older and probably thought it was wrong in a public place and didn’t look at it at sculptures or artwork.
Too bad that they did not get to see it, but oh well 🙂
I passed through a small town call Halden years ago on a cycling trip.
Those guys just loved the 17th of May – it was their highlight of the year.

17th of May is great, we celebrate it all over Norway 🙂
It is even celebrated in Norwegian communities outside of Norway.
I’ll see if I can wrangle a trip over for work next May – except it seems that Norway takes all of May off on holidays each year – culminating on the 17th of May (and the 18th hangover 😛 )
I always save my vacation days for late summer and fall, as there are so many state and religious holidays in the spring anyway 🙂
me too – I preferred to be in work when others were off – I think that I could take it easier then and holiday during busy times. 🙂
Also less traffic on holiday times of year and bank holidays.
